Kate's Photos

I finally uploaded all of Kate's photos off her phone. So here's a selection from the past few months...

- Starting with a video of Jacob and Paddington, two simpatico souls

- Zoë in her favourite local establishment. "We go bakery today?"

- Jacob in disguise

- Knights and Princesses. Possibly the upcoming birthday party theme.

- Zoë getting mucky at the Grove park in Toronto

- With big cousins Sean and Erin, who were in Toronto for a swim meet

- At Pearson, enroute to Thunder Bay

- Grandma's Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop

- Jacob driving the tractor with Papa

- My "before" marathon photo. Much better than the "after" photo, let me assure you

- Molly pondering the St. Lawrence

- Zoë pushing around my dad

- My two Spanish soccer superstars

- Zoë with her new haircut

- New arts & crafts cupboard

- Jacob watching the heron

Father's Day

We had a quiet Father's Day at home. The White's came over for part of the morning with their little sailboat. And there was some swimming and mostly hanging out. And a chocolate cake!

Here's a series of photos of my little fantasticos cuddling on the new deck furniture.

Out in the sun

Lots of outdoor play this week, with plenty of dips in the lake to keep out of the heat.

- Here's Zoë playing with baby Frida at soccer

- Jacob and Zoë working on their canal system

- The kids came home from their Art in the Park day at school, wanting to do more outdoor art

- On Friday I took the twins for a hike while Zoë was in nursery school

- And for those of you not on Facebook, the conversation over Molly's writing below went something like this.
Kate: Oh, Molly, whate did you write? More people like ... penises?
Molly: No mama (looking disgusted). Princesses. Princesses.

Molly Nadal vs. Jacob Djokovic

If you thought the French Open was tense, imagine if the players had to keep score themselves, one of them couldn't keep track of numbers, there was no net, and players had to climb trees to fetch errant balls. That's tennis at our house, baby!

Early Summer Photos II

After a great Thunder Bay trip, we arrived home, did some laundry, then headed to Montreal. My parents looked after the kids while Kate and I headed to Ottawa with the intention of running our 2nd annual marathon. Unfortunately Kate got sick and had to skip the run. Apparently, my spirit (or legs) felt the same way, as I ran fast (relatively, for an old, non-Kenyan) for 25km and then died a sad death and shuffled home for 17 much slower km. Lessons learned - either train harder, run slower, or run a shorter distance!

We did have fun Ottawa visits with Martin (who went for breakfast with Kate, me, and Greg in Ottawa 14 years ago, after our 2nd date!), and Claudie (who officiated our non-official wedding).

- Fun in Grammy's backyard

- Not sure what is more alarming. How good Jacob looks in his sister's clothes. Or how good Jacob looks in his sister's clothes considering that everyone says he looks like me. Hmmm.

- The season for climbing trees is upon us. It helps that some of our trees are practically horizontal.

- Not sure exactly what look she was going for here...

- Molly and Jacob being checked out at the Elmvale Zoo. Oh boy, it's not exactly the Masai Mara.

- Zoë and Ella at the Zoo playground

- Our new deck furniture. Now we actually use our deck!

- And the boxes the furniture came in. Full-screen the photo to see the girls' peeking out the "windows"

- Yes, the dock is in. And the kids have swum almost every day since.

- Zoë's new haircut. We finally gave up on growing it out as she really wasn't fond of keeping clips, ponytails, etc. in her hair

- My new haircut too. Actually the same haircut as the last 20 years, but who's counting.

- Final playball session of the year

Early Summer Photos

And lots of 'em, as I've been absent for almost a month again...

Starting with our visit to Thunder Bay in May
- when in Rome, rent a pick-up truck

- Zoë chowing down at camp

- Jacob oblivious that our Habs didn't make the playoffs. And that his cheek is being eaten by a mosquito. Apparently May is not too early for black flies and mosquitoes. Not if you're 3 or 4 years old anyway.

- Zoë and Grandma hamming it up at Old Fort William

- The ever popular lawn tractor ride with Papa

- Me and the kids at Centennial Park on an old snowplow
