Monday in Beijing

Chilly again today but no more snow. We spent the morning getting Zoë's immigration medical done. No real health issues. She's just onto the growth charts (yes, today's her 9-month "birthday") for height at 67cm. She's a little off the charts for weight at 6.75kg (just over 14lbs), but given that she's now eating 47 meals a day I suspect that she'll catch up quickly.

We submitted all our immigration documents to the Canadian embassy and then went shopping in the insane warren of the clothing market. We were thinking about our friend Chris Hutton being there ten years ago, buying us North Face jackets and bringing them to Nairobi for us. I suspect that the market, and indeed the whole city is quite a different place compared with then.

We're heading out to do some more wandering now...

Here are two photos from dinner last night. We had a half duck with scallions and pancakes. Dipping the duck skin in sugar was particularly delicious.
