Big news in these parts is that Molly seems to have decided that 3-year-olds don't need diapers, so she just finished her 2nd complete diaper-free day (not including sleep-time). Not a single accident. Jacob's not quite there yet. Don't worry, I have no videos on this subject matter.

- Molly moments before her balloon burst - yes it was emotional
- Biking with buddy Myles

Molly & Jacob's Third Birthday
Kate and I lay in bed last night thinking about the night before the twins were born - before all the beautiful insanity all began.
Birthday consisted of: presents at the breakfast table (diggers for the sandbox, a super-cool water table, puzzles, a ball, and some books); Mariposa for breakfast, where we saw a bunch of the folks who have been having coffee with the twins since day one; some-assembly-required on the gifts; frantic tidying of the house prior to the real estate open house; driving the kids around during naptime, trying and failing to avoid the G8-G20 police presence on all the local highways; playtime, dinner and bed.
Birthday party (firefighter-themed) tomorrow morning - wish us luck!!
- Of course, Kate made firetrucks for the party. Molly's best rushing-to-the-fire face.
- Brave (and very innocent looking) firefighter
- Heading to the fire - who says you can't put out fires in a beautiful flowery dress?
- Zoë enjoying the birthday prep too
- Jacob and his beloved digger
- the haul
- Me and my gang

Climbing Zoë
She's still insisting on holding a finger while walking, but she did accomplish a new milestone today. I found her halfway up the staircase, which she climbs on her hands and feet (like a bearwalk). She was very proud of herself.
It's a rainy day here so we spent the morning at the library, and now I'm watching Wimbledon while the kids nap.

Montreal Visit Recap
We went to Montreal for the first week of June. Kate had a conference for part of the week, while the rest of us spent lots of time with my parents, Beth, Don, Sean & Erin.
Kate and I also got in a dinner & movie date (Get Me to the Greek - funny but not amazing), lots of workouts, and a 10km race (Kate won her age-group and was the 2nd overall woman despite running slowly with me for the first half and then injuring her hip at the 8 km mark).
- Me blowing out a candle on my sports-themed birthday cupcakes. Yes, my 39th birthday had yet another celebration. And yes, that is a bit of a shiner I'm sporting. We're saying it's a soccer injury.
- Zoë with birthday balloons at Beth & Don's house.
- Molly blowing out the candle
- Jacob's turn
- Who's taller? Still the same I think.
- Me and the kids at the Ecomuseum
- Similar to the zoo experience today, the most memorable part of the Ecomuseum trip was apparently the revolving door. Can you tell we're raising small town kids!!
- Will he still long to cut the grass when he's fifteen?
- Dryland training with Sean in the canoe
- And in the kayak too
- Jacob zooming down the slide
- Zoë hanging on
- Hanging out with grandpapa
- Getting ready for the car trip home

World Cup Zoë
Just in time for opening day of the big tourney, Zoë masters the throw-in. If ever a 50 second video captured the spirit of a 16-month old kid, this one does. Isn't she fantastic?
My favourite Rip Van Winkle moment of the past few days - discussing camping and sleeping in tents with the kids. Kate says, "when I was little I used to sleep in a tent all summer long". Jacob responds, "why you couldn't get up mama? All summer?".
We went to the Elmvale Zoo today. I withheld my disdain/repulsion at the way small zoos pen their wild animals, as the kids' enthusiasm was quite infectious. However, when questioned later in the day, Molly claimed her favourite part was the "superfast slide" at the zoo's playground. And Jacob rued the fact that there was no gorilla, as he'd worn his gorilla t-shirt on purpose. In case you're wondering, Jacob is one almost-three-year-old capable of rue.
Our house officially went up for sale while we were in Montreal last week. So the long summer begins of trying to keep the mess at bay while contending with three toy-spewing kids and two tidiness-challenged adults. Hopefully it will sell soon and we can return to our usual slovenlinesses. And for those who don't know, we're moving within town, to a place that I hope becomes all of our friends' defacto cottage.
