World Cup Zoë

Just in time for opening day of the big tourney, Zoë masters the throw-in. If ever a 50 second video captured the spirit of a 16-month old kid, this one does. Isn't she fantastic?

My favourite Rip Van Winkle moment of the past few days - discussing camping and sleeping in tents with the kids. Kate says, "when I was little I used to sleep in a tent all summer long". Jacob responds, "why you couldn't get up mama? All summer?".

We went to the Elmvale Zoo today. I withheld my disdain/repulsion at the way small zoos pen their wild animals, as the kids' enthusiasm was quite infectious. However, when questioned later in the day, Molly claimed her favourite part was the "superfast slide" at the zoo's playground. And Jacob rued the fact that there was no gorilla, as he'd worn his gorilla t-shirt on purpose. In case you're wondering, Jacob is one almost-three-year-old capable of rue.

Our house officially went up for sale while we were in Montreal last week. So the long summer begins of trying to keep the mess at bay while contending with three toy-spewing kids and two tidiness-challenged adults. Hopefully it will sell soon and we can return to our usual slovenlinesses. And for those who don't know, we're moving within town, to a place that I hope becomes all of our friends' defacto cottage.
