Still Waiting

China is in the middle of a week-long holiday (Autumn Moon Festival), so our approval to travel won't be mailed until Friday at the earliest. Which means that we obviously won't be travelling by mid-October as we had hoped. The end of October now seems quite likely.

Since near the beginning of this adoption process, Coldplay's "Til Kingdom Come" has been our Mei-Mei song. They wrote it for Johnny Cash, but he died before he could record it. It wasn't written about adoption, but it is all about waiting for a loved one, and the words seem especially poignant during these final weeks of waiting to go get our little Zoë.

Steal my heart and hold my tongue.
I feel my time, my time has come.
Let me in, unlock the door.
I've never felt this way before.

The wheels just keep on turning,
The drummer begins to drum,
I don't know which way I'm going,
I don't know which way I've come.

Hold my hand inside your hands,
I need someone who understands.
I need someone, someone who hears,
For you, I've waited all these years.

For you, I'd wait 'til kingdom come.
Until my day, my day is done.
And say you'll come, and set me free,
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.

In your tears and in your blood,
In your fire and in your flood,
I hear you laugh, I heard you say,
"I wouldn't change a single thing."

The wheels just keep on turning,
The drummers begin to drum,
I don't know which way I'm going,
I don't know what I've become.

For you, I'd wait 'til kingdom come,
Until my days, my days are done.
Say you'll come and set me free,
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.

The first time I heard this song, (before you were even pregnant with Molly and jacob) it brought tears to my eyes; now I'm just excited to meet my niece!
